Nichole is passionate about physiotherapy and education! She constantly works to improve her understanding and skills in physiotherapy treatment approaches and believes the learning journey for improving patient outcomes simply never ends. A constantly inquiring mind has inspired Nichole to consistently challenge her knowledge and skills in all areas of physiotherapy including manual therapy techniques, exercise prescription and patient communication.
Nichole’s passion for education and assisting both patients and physiotherapists reach their potential inspired her to start teaching in 2007. Her first lectures on the management of hip and pelvic pain with North Sydney Sports Medicine were based on her extensive experience in treating hip pain alongside her orthopaedic colleague Dr Michael O’Sullivan. This soon developed into her workshop for physiotherapists titled “The Irritable Hip”. This workshop provides a combined understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, exercise prescription and an integrated understanding of different elements that can contribute to hip pain in individual patients. Nichole has studied and practiced yoga for over 10 years. In 2011 she qualified as a yoga teacher under the expert tuition of Being Yoga. Nichole combines physiotherapy and yoga practice to assist in injury prevention and recovery from pain.
Nichole has firsthand experience in yoga postures and has expertise in assessment of postures and how to resolve and prevent injury in yoga. She blends both physical yoga practices and meditation techniques within her physiotherapy practice to enhance and optimise recovery from pain or injury.
With a passion for education Nichole has also developed a series of online resources for yoga practitioners, patients and yoga teachers. The videos provide information on anatomy and injury prevention during yoga practice, with a focus on typical problem areas that can occur for yogis.
