Telehealth services at Synergy Physio

Synergy Physio is pleased to now offer our patients a chance to stay connected and supported with their health with the introduction of ‘telehealth’ services!

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is simply a secure video connection (much like Skype or facetime!), so you are able to have a one on one consultation with your therapist from the comfort of your own home.

Once your appointment has been made with our reception team, you will simply be emailed a direct link that you can ‘click’ at the time of your consultation. Upon clicking the link our services will direct you instantly to your video call with your physiotherapist. You will simply need a laptop, an iPad or a smart phone to access your direct connection to your support health team.  Your physiotherapist can guide you through your treatment and management plan as well as provide you with advice, home exercises and management strategies to resolve your symptoms and start your recovery.

How to make an appointment

You can make an appointment in two ways.  You can simply click the book online button here .This directs you to your online booking form which will simply require your name and payment details. Once this appointment has been confirmed you will automatically be emailed a summary of your appointment, as well as your direct link to click at the time of consultation. We have also created and explainer video to assist you here. The day prior to your appointment you will be sent an SMS reminder to your mobile phone to remind you of your appointment time. You will also be sent a reminder email with your video link button, so you can have easy access from your iPad or laptop.

Who is this suitable for?

Online video consultations with your physiotherapist are suitable for many patients! Physiotherapists are experts at diagnosing acute musculoskeletal injuries and pain, as well as the management of chronic conditions.

If you have had an acute injury and are not sure what to do, a physiotherapist is able to ask the right questions to help determine the cause of your pain and form a management pathway. This could include referrals to specialists or imaging if required.

If you have recently had surgery such as hip replacement, the Synergy Physio team have created our very own post-operative hip replacement care package. This includes your video consultations to assess your hip range of movement, you’re walking pattern and also a series of post-operative exercises in video format that can be emailed to you directly following your consultation.

Women’s health conditions are also suitable for video consultations direct with your physiotherapist. Sometimes women prefer to have these consultations from the privacy of their own home! So, if you have been suffering from problems with continence or womens health related problems, that you have been lacking the courage to seek the help- then now is the time! Get on top of this now with a secure and confidential consultation with your physiotherapy team. Watch this short video here!

What should I expect during the call

During the call your physiotherapist will ask you a series of questions to ensure they understand your problem and to form a diagnosis or treatment plan. If you need post-operative care for hip replacement, it is sometimes useful to have another person present in the room with you, so they can become your ‘video assistant’ and the physiotherapist can then assess your hip range of movement and walking pattern. It is recommended to have a clear open room with minimal distractions so that your physiotherapist can communicate with you clearly. After your Synergy Physio consultation, your physiotherapist will also email you a list of exercises and advice that will guide you through to your next appointment. This may include tailored exercise to aide your recovery, pain relief strategies and tips, as well as individual videos to guide you through to your recovery.

If your physiotherapist feels that your problem requires specialist or imaging referral (such as Xray or scans), she will then arrange the appropriate referrals to take place in order to ensure your health.
